To be human is to experience both joy and struggle, happiness and suffering. Often, we are ruled by the struggles and suffering. When we struggle with our emotions, relationships, self-worth, or meaning in our lives, this is all normal; there is nothing inherently wrong with us.
Yet, we long to be free from old wounds, hurts, traumas, and disappointments.
The good news is that healing from these experiences is possible.
We can have more peace, joy, and inner freedom in our lives.
We understand so much more now about how experiences, particularly those from our early years, impact our bodies, our brain, and nervous system. We are malleable, so change, growth, and healing are all possible.
Mindfulness and compassion are vital tools in the process of healing from emotional wounds. I know this from personal experience, and from training in how to apply mindfulness and compassion to healing.
In this Introductory Program, we’ll look at:
· The origin and physiology of stress and trauma; the fight, flight, freeze response.
· How stress and trauma manifest emotionally, psychologically, and physically.
· How mindfulness and compassion can help in healing.
· Specific practices, exercises, meditations, and reflections.
This is open to all, regardless of background or meditation experience. Please note this class is not treatment or psychotherapy.
